Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man [November 1st | 2020]
play a song for me )

I read the news today, oh boy [April 26th | 2010]
[ private to Jazz ]
Don't normally read this sort of trash, but I was damn bored today, and, well. Seen the latest issue of the New York Star?

You don't think....

Nah. Not our Jackie. Right?

Goin' to the chapel, and we're gonna get ma-a-a-rried...

You wanna tell me somethin', old friend?

lay down your weary tune [April 18th | 2010]
Been here in New York City for a few months now - a record, if you must know. Usually the wanderlust sets in after a couple of weeks. But there's just something about the Big Apple that draws you in, and makes you want to stick around. I guess she kinda gets under your skin.

Found myself a nice little place to strum my tunes - ran into a friend of mine from the old days, when we used to play the coffeehouse circuits. He owns a cafe in the Village, and has a plan to 'bring a little bit of the old charm back to the Village'. His words, not mine - but I agree with the sentiment. With prices in the area being what they are now, I couldn't even afford a bathroom, let alone a whole apartment.

Anyway, he's offered me a semi-regular gig; couple of times a week. There'll be other musicians on the bill, of course, and it does this old heart proud to realise that these musicians only play folk music.

The times, they are a'changin....

like a complete unknown [November 6th | 2009]
I love to wander. In my experience, there's too much in this wide land to see and experience, to be confined to one place all the time.

So I travel the country with nothing but a guitar case and the clothes on my back, passing on the love of my music to people willin' to listen. Don't rightly know how long I've been on the road so far, but I've met many good people who were kind to an old travelling folk singer - or perhaps just plain curious.

I especially remember this lovely young thing, in Miami - promising young singer, but never heard anything but this modern pop rubbish. Spent some time with her, and by the end of the week, she was belting out the old songs. Oh, but she had the voice of an angel. I hooked her up with some of the Sing Out! members in Florida, so I hope she continues to learn. I need all the help I can get, these days

New York seems to be the next stop on my travels. Haven't visited the old place since the seventies, but already I can see it's changed. Greenwich isn't quite the place it was back then maybe that's a good thing, all considered, so I hope to find somewhere to settle down and play.

There's family here, in this city. I can sense the song in her bones.
